No need for traffic cameras if laws obeyed

This is in reference to the articles and opinions about traffic cameras and tickets. This includes the July 8 letter 'Traffic tickets created to make money.”

It is true that tickets make money for cities and states. But it also is true that safety on our streets and highways is a major factor in writing tickets.

Those who like to turn a blind eye to traffic laws and the safety of others on the roads travel the roads a speed that fits their purpose, regardless of traffic laws. We all have been guilty of this from time to time.

But those who complain about the cameras and tickets probably are the main offenders. If I offend, I expect to get a ticket and pay willingly. If we all would obey laws, slow down and take it easier, there would be no need for them.

So if you need to be somewhere at a certain time, plan for it. Take a few extra minutes and leave a little early. That way, you will get there in plenty of time and there will be no ticket to pay and no complaints.
