‘No Kings’ protests were a TDS support group

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
First, there were — and still are — protests against ICE. Sure, nobody loves the idea of federal agents rounding up illegal aliens who have been legally ordered to leave the country but chose to ignore that ruling.
Then came the “No Kings” protests, followed by letters to the editor from attendees complaining that they didn’t get the attention they wanted. I have a five-year-old grandson who acts the same way. The difference is, as adults, we recognize that some of these complaints are simply childish. Let’s call it what it really is — a Trump Derangement Syndrome support group.
Somewhere in between were the “Free Palestine” rallies, the demands for biological males to compete in women’s sports, and who knows what else.
I’m over 70. Many of those out protesting are around my age, too. I play pickleball, volunteer, and have plenty of hobbies. I’d suggest some of you try the same — because right now, you’re coming across as just plain ridiculous.
