No kids in school? Support PPEL extension anyway

As a resident of the Marion Independent School District, I will be asked to support extending the PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy) on March 5. I understand that supporting this levy will NOT lead to a property tax increase and that the funds are restricted for use on things like facility maintenance, technology, and transportation. However, I don’t have any kids in school, so why should I support this levy?
I take pride in my community and this pride begins with well-maintained buildings and new construction that signifies my community is growing.
Families want to live in communities with strong school districts. Parents want their children to attend schools with safe buses and technology that prepares their children for the future. The economy of Marion will be boosted as more people move into the community and the value of my home will remain strong.
Businesses seek locations with strong school districts because they know this is a key factor for building their workforce with skilled employees who want to stay for a long time. New and expanded businesses in our community lead to better paying jobs and additional tax revenue that can be used on things like roads and community facilities.
Therefore, if you live in the Marion Independent School District, whether you have children currently attending school in the district or not, please join me in supporting PPEL on March 5 because it will benefit you, your household, and your community.
