New Obama ad claim doesn’t tell whole story
The Gazette Opinion Staff

President Obama's campaign has an ad claiming that oil imports are less than 50 percent. This is the first time in
25 years. But also it is the first time in history that U.S. oil exports are our highest-valued exports. The price of gas in the U.S. is about 82 percent higher than it was when he became president.
Even though imports of oil are a lower percentage of our oil use, foreign oil companies' profits are up. The main reason given for reducing oil imports was because it was funding countries such as Iran. Is Obama going to take credit for his policies that have helped keep up the price of oil, resulting in countries such as Iran making more money this year?
Also, is Obama going to take the credit for the U.S. oil companies making record profits? The biggest question: Why do the oil companies complain when the government polices result in them making more money?
