Barely a week ago Donald Trump sent the American taxpayer a $400 million bill for his new ride, an outdated Boeing 747 from Qatar. A week later the trade journal Simple Flying announced that Qatar Airways is canceling an order for 25 Boeing 737 Max 10 aircraft and will instead order Airbus aircraft from Europe. Those Boeing planes would have used avionics built in Cedar Rapids and carry seats made by a Collins division.
Thus the Great Negotiator repays his Qatari hosts for his present at the expense of American jobs while Iowa senators and representatives remain silent. I’m not sure who is winning here, but I’m very sure the American people are losing.
