Nation can’t afford GOP’s naysaying
The Gazette Opinion Staff

As have past generations, we face challenges that will be overcome by this generation's united embrace of our indomitable American Can Do Spirit.
In these times, our nation cannot afford the foot-dragging and obstreperous naysay of the likes of Sen. Chuck Grassley and his fellow right-wing members of the GOP (the party of greed, obstruction and poison). They need to be turned out of office.
The Party of Honest Abe Lincoln has been turned into an instrument that kowtows to the same forces of moneyed privilege that held dominion over the plantation South and where, in their effort to maintain lives of ruling privilege, they tried to destroy government of the people, by the people and for the people.
What extremists of today say about President Obama is no different from the lies and scorn that Southern secessionists directed at President Lincoln in their efforts to destroy the Union.
As a people, we do not have time to get mired in their fractious defeatism; we have a better future to build for “ourselves and our Posterity.”
