Museum groundbreaking took hard work, talent
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 28, 2010 12:37 pm
In addition to being a milestone in our flood recovery, the recent National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library groundbreaking was a testimony to how vital an engaged, committed and hard-working volunteer board of directors is to the long-term success of our non-profit organizations. The museum and library board members “worked their vision” by dividing up responsibilities, accomplishing things that permitted the staff to remain focused on operational recovery concerns.
It's a textbook example of how the giving of time, treasure and talent is the key to a non-profit's vitality and sustainability.

Our values are mutual regardless of faith
I wish to express my appreciation for the lovely Dec. 25 greeting in The Gazette from the Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids. The passage cited from the Qur'an was an example of how mutual our values are regardless of our choice of faiths.
I wish our Muslim neighbors, as for all of us, a blessed 2011.
