Murder suspect doesn’t deserve change of venue
The Gazette Opinion Staff

When I read stories
of criminals who want the venue changed for their trial, it upsets me (i.e., “Murder suspect says he can't get fair
trial in Linn County,” Aug. 6).
What does this man expect? He is charged with a murder in our community and now wants a “fair” trial somewhere else. I'm
sure his prior record (for darn near the same crime) won't be allowed in court, although it should be.
I say leave the trial here and let him get the decision he deserves from his peers. He's innocent until proven guilty. Let the jury selection begin - right here in Cedar Rapids!
