Move past casino, attract other business

Casino, casino, casino. That's about all we've heard and gotten from our mayor and his wealthy pal investors the last three years.
Yes, the casino dud 'landed with a thud” as it should have. Because anyone with an ounce of sense knew it primarily would take money from elderly, poor, the less privileged and naive wishful thinkers, plus bring with it undesirable tag-alongs. However, the rich would get richer.
Had our mayor and city officials spent more time the last several years developing strategies for getting corporations to build here that mainly employ high-paying jobs and positions (instead of scheming for low-paying casino jobs) this city would've been far better off.
So, will the endless rhetoric nightmare cease or will casino investors, The Gazette and city officials forever pout? Let's pray that maybe, just maybe, Cedar Rapids will move quickly past the casino madness that had the city in lockup stagnation for several years.
