Move fireworks to more visible location

Under the beautiful picture of the Fourth of July fireworks on the front page of the July 5 Gazette was a quote by the interim director of the Freedom Festival: “Folks just have ties to downtown. They like to see fireworks around May's Island.” Perhaps many do, but I'm convinced that many residents don't go through the hassle of finding a parking and viewing spot for 20 minutes of fireworks.
I suggest that the fireworks be on the top of Mount Trashmore next year. You can see it from many places in the city.
It might be safer, too, because it wouldn't be near any buildings.
Originally, most of the festival events were downtown but now they are distributed around the city and the importance of being downtown has diminished. I believe the whole city would like to view the spectacular fireworks.
