Mother’s sentence didn’t serve justice

Are you kidding me? The Iowa City mom whose child was intoxicated got a 10-year suspended prison sentence for endangering her child with alcohol? What kind of society are we living in? Where are we getting these judges?
The mother already had pleaded guilty and served 104 days (minimal) in jail, so her time was served. What?
The judge stated the decision was based on she didn't have much of a criminal past. What about not appearing for her trial and disappearing for three months? Didn't that show a flight risk?
What if the child had died, God forbid, then she would have been charged with murder. What kind of sentence would have been imposed then? Children are our future and with parenting skills like this we are in for big trouble. This was definitely not justice served in this case.
