More state employee pay cuts could save jobs
Our governor refuses to call the Legislature to determine specific budget cuts instead of his across-the-board slashes. However, he has volunteered to forgo 10 percent of his salary. I would suggest that if everyone who receives a state paycheck or an Iowa Public Employees Retirement System pension would follow his example, far fewer people would need to be laid off.
