Modest proposal for OWS folks
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 17, 2011 1:11 pm
I have a modest proposal for Occupy Wall Street folks (and someone rich enough to do this): Go to the protests in New York City, drive by in a calliope ice cream truck, and toss cash out the window to the protesters. See what their reaction is and in that judge their motives.
As a member of the 53 percent (who pay income taxes), I am not terribly suspicious of the nucleus of the OWS movement. After all, they are angry at the government and don't feel at home in the Tea Party. I am, however, suspicious of the clingers-on, locally and afar, that see OWS as a way to get more of my money from the “ice cream truck,” and I am very suspicious of those that'd co-opt the OWS for their own leftist or progressive agenda.
