Mixing government, faith remains tricky

I was amazed to see the Sept. 2 letter (“Paper's elements not aligned with Christianity,” Sept. 2) that claimed The Gazette was anti-Christian because it allowed sexy photos and blasphemy in the form of very mild, almost swearing. I was brought up in a Christian home, my father was a minister. I somehow think that these people got their message from a different God than I studied.
In all the furor over the current Obama administration and our personal lives, what happened to the teaching of Jesus: Forgiveness, love and caring. The first precept Jesus taught was “love your neighbor” and “treat others in the way you wish to be treated.”
Do the evangelicals who want to take over our government really want to be treated with hatred, disdain and prejudice that they show to any they see as “inferior” to their faith level? Do they really want to throw out every part of the Bill of Rights? Our Founding Fathers experienced first hand governments that were dominated by a “Christian” church and wanted no part of it.
If you want to live in such a country, move to Afghanistan and fight to reinstate the Taliban.
