Miller-Meeks the right candidate
May. 9, 2010 12:16 am
I am a native son of Linn County and a retired Naval officer and public health official. Our country is in the midst of the most rapid expansion of the federal government in my lifetime. Auto and bank bailouts, rampant earmarks, and government-run health care are leading to unsustainable debt that will fall to our children and grandchildren to repay.
Iowans are tired of being ignored and told by our representatives “we know what is best for you.” Perhaps most insulting, we are being told we are “unpatriotic” when we exercise our constitutional right to peaceably assemble and speak out against our government's actions. It is time to elect people to represent us in Washington who will read the bills, learn the issues, listen to citizens, and offer true leadership for our country.
I encourage all voters from 2nd Congressional District to vote for the only qualified candidate - Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks - in the June 8 primary. She has the determination, intelligence and common sense to restore our confidence in this government, return America to its exceptional roots, and be a model for responsive representative government worldwide.
