Miller-Meeks priorities aren’t about solving border crisis

As a recipient of Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ weekly newsletter I am treated to a front row perspective of her congressional priorities. For instance, week after week Miller-Meeks relentlessly hammers the Biden administration about the border crisis. She routinely describes our border as broken, chaotic, and open. One her favorites was “Biden’s border crisis.”
Then along comes the most comprehensive bipartisan border security package in years.
The bill reportedly contained too many concessions for a number of Democrats and was endorsed by the Border Patrol union which is a conservative leaning organization. The bill will never see a vote on the House floor. We, the American people are witnessing an important missed opportunity.
Border legislation received no mention for better or worse in Miller-Meeks’ newsletter dated Feb. 18. In fact she coincidentally stepped away from congressional border wars and concerned herself with hammering the Biden Administration about natural gas.
Congresswoman Miller-Meeks, I can’t help but to wonder if your priority is not about fixing the border crisis but to serve a higher power within your party. To be clear I do understand that you are not the only politician whose primary motivation is questionable. Nor are you of the highest profile. But you are the one and only representative I and the entire first congressional district of Iowa has.
