Miller-Meeks doesn't advocate for higher taxes

Recent television ads endorsed by Dave Loebsack stated that Mariannette Miller-Meeks would increase taxes by 23 percent. However, in numerous public forums, on her website and as indicated on the Des Moines Register online, she has NEVER supported tax increases.
She has always been a proponent for decreasing spending and less government. She supports addressing and simplifying the tax code which is critical to the success of American business and families' survival.
Furthermore, Loebsack cast the vote for Congress to recess several weeks ago without addressing the tax cuts, which will now cause immediate tax increases for all Americans if allowed to lapse in January.
He stated publicly that to allow Bush tax cuts to expire would be irresponsible, yet he voted with his party, instead of for the needs of middle income families. Because of this, a married couple with two children making $40,000 a year will pay approximately $2,643 more in taxes in 2011 without this extension. Even this year in 2010, 40 percent of those making under $100,000 a year will be caught in the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) trap and pay approximately $3,900.
Loebsack stated in candidate forums that he did not support a patch for the AMT, which now reaches far beyond millionaires and into the pockets of middle income families.
It is Dave Loebsack that we can't afford. Vote for Marianette Miller-Meeks for Congress.
