Military code must be honored
By Jim Sorensen

I want to clarify that I was an American fighting man who served 27 years in the military, so I am willing to give Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl the benefit of the doubt. but if he violated any of the Code of Conduct, then he needs to pay dearly. All military personnel are educated in the Code, which is the legal guide for the behavior of military members who are captured by hostile forces. The Code, in six brief articles, addresses those situations and decision areas that, to some degree, all military personnel could encounter (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/justicelawlegislation/a/codeofconduct1.h)
Now to our Commander and Chief (and I use that term lightly): He stated that we never leave anyone behind. He has made the same statement each time he presents a soldier the Medal of Honor. This man has now traded one soldier for five known Taliban, who he can't say will not re-enter the battle and kill more soldiers. Evidently our Commander, who has never served, doesn't understand the 'No man left behind” meaning.
I'm outraged about this administration's action toward veterans, and using soldiers as political pawns every time the Commander in Chief gets in trouble, or needs a diversion for his failures
