Midterms important as any other election

I wonder why the voting populace of the United States feels like their voice is not necessary in midterms. From what I have learned, voting in your state or local government is very important as it affects you personally in your daily life, and eventually affects the whole country. I hope that more people would exercise their right and duty to vote for what is important for the democracy of our great nation.
