Middle class suffering as rich get richer
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Like most Americans, I'm concerned about our country's future. The wealthy control the GOP and media tool (Fox), which maintains the superficial appearance of “fair and balanced” while promoting a consistently purposeful bias. The Fox agenda manages the thought process of average Americans to actually vote against their own interests.
A strong middle-class is essential to America's economy, but Republicans don't represent the middle-class. They ensure that assets accrue to the privileged while 99 percent work for peanuts. Millions losing jobs puts downward pressure on compensation while unions are dismantled. Republicans want to cut Social Security, Medicare and regulatory agencies - all foundations to security of our middle-class.
President Obama was called socialist for saying wealth needed “redistribution.” Wealth is being redistributed, from the working class to the rich - even Warren Buffett says it's unfair. Under Bush, middle-class Americans' standard of living declined while the top 1 percent enjoyed massive increases in wealth and compensation. Our children attend larger classes at crumbling schools. There's no money for infrastructure. Imagine building Hoover Dam, the TVA, or our interstate under Tea Party rule! Republicans want to cut Social Security while reducing taxes for the “job creators.” Bush's tax cuts produced no job growth.
Now another Texas governor wants to be president. He touts “job creation,” but doesn't mention that thousands were government jobs hired with stimulus money. Americans - educate yourselves and vote accordingly!
