Memorial park honoring smokestack a good idea

What a wonderful idea of Don Novak (in Feb. 6 letter by Karen Boeding) to have a memorial park and use bricks from the Sinclair smokestack and sell bricks with names of workers to former employees or to their loved ones in their memory. Make it like Veterans Memorial Park. They could even incorporate a small replica of the smokestack, a few walkways and some benches for people to rest and watch the river. This would memorialize a factory that employed many over the years and helped the city of Cedar Rapids grow and prosper.
This would be some place of interest to bring visitors to see in our city and not spend a million dollars trying to save the smokestack. While showing your visitors, check out the little park behind Local P3, honoring early merchants and laborers that made Czech Village. My husband, son and many friends worked years at Wilsons.
