Melrose Avenue part of Hawkeye football

An Iowa City committee has recommended that temporary commercial activities be stopped on Melrose Avenue. This stems from complaints of neighborhood residents.
The Iowa City Melrose committee said a ban would protect the residential character of the neighborhood. The zoning of the area does not allow for commercial uses.
Did you not know Kinnick Stadium was there when you moved into the neighborhood? Didn't the huge stadium and parking lots make you wonder, “What is this?” Are you anti-Hawkeye or just against supporters of the Hawkeyes?
Melrose Avenue is a part of Iowa Hawkeye football. This proposal could mean no more big turkey legs, buying your children their first Hawk game T-shirt, watching the area transform into a sea of Black and Gold or meeting old friends and making new ones all in the same area.
I have been going to Iowa football games for more than 40 years. The Melrose experience was there back then and it should be allowed to continue into the future.
