I'm proud to support Dr. Andy McGuire for governor of Iowa and I firmly believe she has the experience, leadership and wisdom to fix the sad state of Iowa's health care.
Dr. McGuire is a medical doctor who has spent her career caring for people who need it the most. She overcame barriers and worked her way through medical school and training while raising a family, becoming a doctor who worked at a veterans hospital where she cared for brave veterans with life-threatening injuries. She became head of a health care company where she helped improve immunization rates and prenatal care. She is an expert on the health care system and will make sure every Iowan has access to quality, affordable health care
When I was 15 years old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This diagnosis changed my life forever. I worry about my diet, how much insulin I need to take and whether or not I might have a low or high blood sugar. All of these factors can lead to a chaotic and troubling life. Something that should not be troubling is health care. The Reynolds administration has destroyed Medicaid and has made me worry about my health care options in the future.
Dr. McGuire would bring experience, leadership and wisdom to her job. I know we can count on Dr. McGuire to fix the Medicaid privatization mess to ensure our tax dollars go to providing quality health care, not padding corporate profits.
