Mayors’ bicycle ride a success to build upon

The City of Cedar Rapids and Linn County Trails Association sponsored the Linn County Mayors' Bicycle Ride this past Labor Day. Mayor or mayor representatives from Cedar Rapids, Fairfax, Marion and Robins along with U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack participated.
There were 400 registered riders and 40 volunteers. The volunteers were mostly from Hawkeye Bicycle Association, Linn Area Mountain Biking Association, Cedar Rapids Bicycle Advisory Committee and Linn County Trails Association. Bananas and water were supplied by Hy-Vee.
The enthusiastic support and excellent turnout indicates strong support for bicycle and other recreational activities in the Linn County area. We hope to build on this with an even stronger turnout next year.
