Matt Adam is a leader

The City of Coralville is at a very critical point in its growth and leadership. Current leadership has taken our wonderful city down a path that has resulted in stifling debt. “Everything is fine and we are on a solid path to pay everything back,” we are told. I'm not buying it.
My greatest concern is the administration's decision to spend so much in the first place. Why did we need to build a hotel for about $60 million that is valued at under $30 million? Why did we need to purchase large parcels of land to develop businesses? Why are we funding a golf course that doesn't turn a profit?
Normal thought processes will tell you that the private sector will open a business and develop an area if it's needed. Why did the City of Coralville have to step in and play landowner, developer and landlord at the Iowa River Landing? As a longtime business owner, I rely on a prudent business plan before I proceed with opening a business. The City of Coralville went against all prudent business decisions in the IRL. Sure, the area looks great now, but at what long-term expense to the residents of Coralville and their children? Unfortunately, the city is not done dumping substantial amounts of money into the IRL.
I am ready for a change in leadership in Coralville. That change should be led by Matt Adam for mayor. Vote for Adam this November to lead the charge toward fiscal responsibility in Coralville.
