Mathis speaks on behalf of us

Considering the importance of the special election in District 18 to our state, we cannot stand silent. Fortunately, Liz Mathis agrees.
In knowing Liz and her family for years, I've long been impressed by her commitment to both family and community. As a full-time working mom, Liz has proved she can deliver under pressure. We have all witnessed Liz's service to community as a hardworking, dedicated and trusted journalist, telling us not only what we want to know, but what we need to know. Liz has the courage to speak truth to power and would bring a wealth of experience to the Iowa Senate.
Though vocal on a variety of issues, Liz has proved her commitment to education, child welfare and business development. Separate from her role as an anchor, reporter and producer of television news, she has taught college courses, worked for a child welfare agency and served on a bank board of directors. Being raised on a family farm, Liz also has a heartfelt understanding and appreciation of the challenges facing rural Iowa.
Liz's proven communication skills and ability to connect with others, not only to bridge divides, but to reach common sense and meaningful solutions, will inevitably place District 18 in a leadership roll in the Iowa Senate.
