Liz Mathis is the clear choice to represent Iowans in the 2nd Congressional District. Her background as a child and family advocate allowed her to see how state, local, and federal government programs can help enhance the lives of Iowans. Through her work in the Iowa Senate, she has seen the challenges Iowans have had to deal with in trying to navigate Iowa's outsourced Medicaid transition and has worked to alleviate many of these problems. She also helped establish the framework for a children's mental health system in Iowa.
Mathis understands that politicians should not be interfering with the rights of women to make their own health care decisions. If elected, she will support legislation that restores a women’s right to an abortion which was established by the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Decision.
Her opponent doesn’t support this view. Rep. Ashley Hinson has endorsed Sen. Lindsey Graham’s bill that would ban abortion at 15 weeks. Her support of a federal abortion ban contradicts her party’s view that abortion rights should be left to the states to decide. She can’t have it both ways.
Hinson’s inconsistency on this issue has not been limited to abortion. She has consistently railed against Biden Administration policies only to quietly accept the federal dollars that have been earmarked for the district she represents. This intellectual dishonesty is reason enough to deny her a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Liz Mathis deserves to be elected on Nov. 8.
