Mathis is a community leader
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 19, 2011 12:38 pm
Eastern Iowa is indeed fortunate to have Liz Mathis running for State Senate in District 18. Liz, who has extensive experience in journalism and communication, comes to us with a background and knowledge of working with all segments of our population.
Her life's work with child advocacy agencies and her steadfast belief that we must stop shortchanging our educational system are vital components to reversing our diminishing world standing in education.
Liz has taught communication studies at Wartburg College and, more important, she taught First Amendment law. Couple this background with the fact her husband is a small-business owner in Iowa. Liz knows first hand how important it is to implement and enact new policies that will spur job growth and help us all navigate through these desperate economic times.
What better credentials could we expect of our candidates?
Please come out to support this capable community leader in this special election. Our children and our individual communities will depend on it.
