On Nov. 8, voters in Senate District 18 will decide the balance of power in the Iowa Senate. I urge you to exercise your right to participate in the democratic process by voting.
Liz Mathis understands the concerns of working-class families in this lingering recession. She knows the importance of getting people back to work. To do this, we need policies that will help Main Street businesses thrive.
Liz will work for improving education in Iowa. Working for a child welfare and juvenile justice agency, she sees the problems when education isn't given priority in government. She is also passionate about supporting the most vulnerable children in our community who are affected by poverty and neglect.
Mathis worked in public communication for 25 years. Before that, she taught at Wartburg College from 1996-98. Her life has been involved in community.
She believes that all workers should have the right to bargain over a full range of subjects that are important to workers. Make no mistake about it, if Gov. Branstad and his candidate win this election, anti-worker forces will be able to push through their agenda.
