Marion has hired an out-of-town consultant for $100,000 to come up with a new branding. A select few will be chosen to approve the new logo. Here's my free consultation: 'Wacky Doodle.” We can choose a photo of our bars, breweries and roundabouts to welcome our visitors.
You can carry a gun into City Hall, but employees cannot wear sandals or denim. 'Wacky Doodle.”
We can do away with council members because they have little say in decision making.
The council no longer evaluates the department heads for their annual raises, the city manager 'recommends” and the council follows.
When bids are given for projects, council doesn't see spreadsheets to compare the bidders. Staff recommends who should get the job.
Our paid parks board is no longer elected, they are picked by the staff to be sure everyone agrees with their decisions. 'Wacky Doodle.”
To remove the traffic signals uptown except for the three on 10th Street and replace them with two-way stops is not encouraging for business. The signals were installed with stimulus money and now will be rusting in storage. We have wasted not only the installation costs, but the added cost of removing them. 'Wacky Doodle.”
