Many reasons to support Vernon

I have known Monica Vernon for nearly 35 years. Here is why I support her for Iowa's 1st District in Congress:

l As we recovered from the Flood of 2008, she worked tirelessly for Cedar Rapids. She will do the same in Washington.

l She founded and ran a successful business for 2-plus decades. She understands the struggles of Iowa's small businesses and will work for business owners and employees alike.

l I watched she and her husband raise 3 great daughters. I respect and admire her parenting and love of family. After a 14-hour day on the campaign trail, you might find her working on her City Council duties, pulling weeds in her garden or volunteering in our community. The point is that when there is a job to do, she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work. She will take her great Iowa work ethic to Congress and make a difference.

Democrats, Republicans and Independent voters, join me in voting for her in the Tuesday Democratic primary.
