Make festival fun affordable for families

My family and I ventured out to the Kolach Festival on June 11 for family fun only to be utterly disappointed. Why? The cost!
We purchased 10 tickets ($1 each) hoping the kids would be able to enjoy a few of the carnival rides. They were able to go on only two! A small, old, carousel took four of our 10 (two apiece) and even my 2-year-old was not impressed. I could have given him a token for the beautiful carousel at the mall for only $1.
The remaining six tickets went to another ride (three apiece) that left everyone less than entertained. We were not motivated to purchase additional tickets as the cost of the remaining rides could not justify the expense.
What happened to making family events affordable? Could this be the reason the festival was less populated than a public restroom that day?
If events, such as these, were more affordable, everyone would come out ahead and the families who came would leave with a smile on their faces and a few dollars left in their pockets.
