Make downtown family-friendly

To the editor:
Maybe we should think about asking Macy's if they would build a department store on the west side of the Cedar River; building a bowling alley for families; building a large-screen movie theater; building a large family pizza place that's kid friendly; building a small grocery store and pharmacy; building a small museum that would house life-size exhibits of the Indian culture and settlers when our area was developed on the Cedar River; and finding ways to bring our population who live downtown the necessities of life without having to drive out of the city proper.
We need something for our young guests to do when we schedule athletic events at the U.S. Cellular Center and the riverfront and we also need opportunities for those living downtown and planning to live downtown the opportunity to walk at most an eight block area for what they need to survive. I miss Killian's and Armstrong's. Let's consider family-friendly changes downtown.
