Make C.R. roadways a sight to be proud of

Let me second the comments made in Dianne Reininga's July 29 letter, “Roadside trash makes a bad impression of C.R.”
The past seven years, we have driven the interstate system from Cedar Rapids to Nashville, going through the cities of St. Louis, Paducah, Ky., Nashville and others on the route. Each time as we make our way back, we are taken back by the ugliness of the drive into Cedar Rapids. The tall weeds, trash and rundown look of Interstate 380 and bridges makes our city the worst looking on our trip.
I hope our city and state officials can make this, the second-largest city in Iowa, proud and beautiful like others.
