Majority of America no longer silent
N/A
Oct. 20, 2010 2:03 pm
Believe it or not, it was on Nov. 3, 1969, that President Nixon appealed for the first time to a group he called the great “Silent Majority.” They were quiet, happy folks whose support he needed - but people who didn't want to get involved in politics and weren‘t inclined to demonstrate.
You might ask a member of the silent majority, “Which is worse? Ignorance or apathy?” - and after a moment's thought, you might get this answer: “Well, I guess I don't know ... and frankly, I don't care.”
Such is not the case in 2010! The Silent Majority is no longer silent! Hallelujah! Thanks to our president's transparency, his deceit and his two-year rampage through our china shop, millions of our too-long-silent fellow Americans have been awakened. They have seen what “Change You Can Believe In” can be - and they don't believe it's the change they want!
What they do want is less government, less debt and more freedom to work at jobs in a free market while saving for a worry-free retirement without unreasonable governmental control or excessive taxation.
Today, these folks are wide-awake, concerned Americans who are called by many names: Tea Partiers, conservatives, Republicans, parents and grandparents who care about the future. Isn't it ironic that they can wake up this Nov. 3 having demonstrated by their vote that they have re-established themselves as the No-longer Silent Majority.
