Major concerns with state omnibus bill
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jun. 17, 2011 11:40 am
Gov. Terry Branstad, with two state paychecks, has no incentive to solve the budget. Legislators do; they are not being paid. The governor's omnibus bill is very bad:
l The first-year cuts in a proposed two-year budget eliminates jobs.
l Cities need working-people incomes to survive.
l Tax cuts and wishing for future jobs does not work.
l Water quality, safety and education are not frivolous to our state.
l We have the money. Why add to the recession?
Keep the budget from last year! Help the Senate Democrats stop the omnibus bill. Call Gov. Branstad at (515) 281-5211 or contact Sen. Joe Bolkcom at (515) 281-3371 or at joe@joebolkcom.org.
