Maintained power plants still a viable option
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In recent news stories, power plants that exceed 50 years old are characterized as bad, based solely on their age.
I offer that power plants are like houses. If the owner chooses, the facility can be maintained in excellent condition. And continuing to use machinery and buildings is an excellent form of recycling; don't throw it away in the first place. Having made a career in such maintenance, I attest that such efforts can have considerable success.
