Lyness stands for dedication

What makes Janet Lyness an amazing county attorney is her dedication to the people of Johnson County. She understands that there are laws that define what action is required of her and she knows when it's right to temper those requirements with discretion. Her reverence for the values of the community she serves is apparent.
She has been a voice for the victims of violence, including children and elders, because they deserve to feel safe. She has worked closely with other county agencies to give support to those victims to ensure their ability to not just survive, but thrive.
She has taken action and created special programs to bring down the overpopulation in the jail, ensuring that only the people that need to be in jail are. She has created a marijuana diversion program to help first-time offenders get treatment or probation to wipe their records clean so that they can pay their debt for breaking the law without spending time in jail.
This is what the public expects. To be kept safe from the truly dangerous and have help available to those who are not. To have a county attorney who is capable of completing all the
requirements of the job: managing a staff of 35 and a budget of $3 million. Providing counsel to county entities, as well as managing a caseload. The public needs her. She has proved that she can do this job and she needs the public to back her in this election.
