Loebsack support of libraries helps Iowans

In these hard economic times, Iowa's public and school libraries are more important than ever. They provide free Internet access for job seekers and students, computer and resume writing instruction classes and, of course, books, videos and magazines for learning or entertainment.
Congressman Dave Loebsack is good for libraries because he understands the vital role they play for all Iowans.
Dave co-sponsored the LEARN Act, which promotes literacy; the SKILLS Act to encourage hiring of school librarians; and he voted to provide emergency funds to keep teachers and school librarians working despite local budget shortfalls.
Dave regularly reads to district students and has worked to promote the Reach Out and Read program that encourages health professionals to talk to new parents about teaching their kids to read early.
Loebsack knows that Iowa's libraries are a basic public service, not a luxury to be funded after the wealthiest Americans get their bloated tax cuts. Dave gets it - strong libraries create a stronger economy, educate and entertain Iowa's citizens, and make our state a better place to live.
