Loebsack helps students pay for college

Many college students and their families can be grateful this year for the legislation that our 2nd District Rep. Dave Loebsack has helped pass.
Loebsack successfully sponsored the expansion of the Pell Grant program, which increased the maximum scholarship amount to $5,500 in 2010. He also introduced the SECTORS Act, passing with bipartisan support, which provides for training and education in industries where most needed.
For these and other initiatives to help college students, Loebsack earned the Congressional Award for 2009 from the Council for Resource Development.
I'm proud to have been a community college student in Iowa 45 years ago, at the age of 45. Without that opportunity, I would not have been able to go out to a four-year-school and get my BA.
