Loebsack call for openness refreshing
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Sep. 30, 2011 2:01 pm
Kudos to Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, for insisting that any meetings by the special congressional committee on the deficit be held in public. He also is also pushing for disclosure of donations from special interests by those on the committee.
In an era where some politicians sign secret promises and work behind closed doors with corporations to create legislation, it is a breath of fresh air to have someone stand up and say that the people's business should be done in the open.
