Linn Recorder’s Office needs some changes

Regarding the Oct. 8 letter by Joan McCalmant about staff at the Linn County Recorder's Office. She dismissed comments made by Louis Van Marm's (Oct. 3 letter) when he commented he'd experienced excessive waiting times at the Recorder's Office.
While I have been talking with voters the past several months, many citizens have shared with me their frustration at the poor level of service at the Recorder's Office. McCalmant states that such an experience cannot possibly be the result of her “hard-working ... helpful” staff, so it must be the result of her leadership - or the lack thereof.
In her letter, McCalmant also states “the campaign process occasionally turns negative.” This statement is the height of hypocrisy. She (and supporters) has been heard insulting my professional work, military service and even my wife.
She should realize this race is about one thing - change. My singular goal to close an unneeded, bureaucratic, $1.3 million drain on taxpayer wallets.
