Thanks to the quick response of Alex Sill, I am still alive and playing golf again.
On April 30 I was at Twin Pines playing golf by myself. While waking to the No. 2 tee box I went into cardiac arrest. Alex was just walking to No. 9 tee box and had seen me go down with the push cart falling on top of me. He ran over from 30 yards away and called 911 and they told him what to do. Alex had never done CPR before. This was pretty awesome in that situation and he is only 26.
Fortunately the medics were only about two blocks away. They rushed right over and took over for Alex. Only 10 percent of people with cardiac arrest survive.
I'm sure Cedar Rapids or Linn County has some program that recognize people like Alex for saving a life (in this case, mine.) Again, I want to thank Alex, the people from the fire station, and all the doctors and nurses from St. Luke’s Hospital.
