Library can find ways to save money

To the editor:
Go ahead and blame westsiders for rejecting the tax levy for the library.
But I was brought up by a very wise parent, my father. He raised 12 children with his one job and we didn't receive any government assistance. He was of old school that before you spend money make sure you can cover your expenses.
I was taught that if you really wanted something and your one job couldn't cover the expenses consider getting an additional job or look your expenses over and see what can be cut. Basically by raising our taxes you are asking us to get a second job to cover the expenses. All we on the westside are saying is we are already overworked (burdened by taxes) and we don't want a second job. Instead we want to go line by line on the expenses and see what can be trimmed.
Sure try and lay a guilt trip on the westside by stating some folks might be laid off cause of the tax increase failing. I don't know about you, but that is reality. In the business world laying someone off is the fastest way of saving money - it happens all the time.
I offer the following line elimination: review your surveys and close the main and branch library on whichever is the less used day.
