Liberals, not Bush, responsible for mess
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I find it amusing that the liberals/Democrats continue to talk about the mess President Barack Obama inherited in 2009 and blame all his failed policies on George Bush. I must remind you that the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress in January 2007. (The Congress controls spending and Barack was part of it when this mess was started.)
One of the major causes of the recession was the collapse of the housing industry. In January 2007, Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee. Their major thrust was that all Americans must own their houses as that was “the American dream.” One way to help this was to push the “subprime mortgage program.” Millions of Americans who could not afford their dreams were offered mortgages for as much as 110 percent of the then-value of their houses. You can see how that worked out.
The liberals took us from a Dow of around 13,000 and 4.6 percent unemployment and pushed us into the worst economic situation since the 1930s.
