Letters: Parallels to be found between “circuses”

'Sad” to see Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus fold up their tent after 147 years of entertaining us. Not surprising though as I'm sure they could see there was no way they could compete with the new circus in town. After all, the new circus gets 24/7 free coverage on all news media and has attracted so many clowns and puppets who will work for peanuts.
I'm waiting for Donald Trump to call Ringling Bros. and bully them into continuing so he doesn't get blamed for the loss of all those jobs. Like him or not, you have to admit this is now 'The Greatest Show on Earth”. It's akin to watching a slow-motion car wreck, you can't take your eyes off it.
It's unfortunate though, where Ringling Bros. got in trouble for mistreating their animals, Trump will, and has, gotten away with ridiculing, disparaging and mistreating immigrants, women, Muslims, the disabled and nearly anyone else who is not to his liking.
The upside is we get free tickets to this show which isn't bad unless you're one of the many unfortunate people who will pay a heavy price for the effects of his dangerous acts.
