Letter: Women’s March was uplifting experience

On behalf of the organizers of the Women's March on Washington, Iowa Chapter, thank you to our volunteers, marchers, speakers, musicians and partners. You made the marches in Des Moines and in Washington, D.C. successful.

Our volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure participants had a positive, uplifting experience where diverse voices were heard. Thank you marchers; we are inspired by your words, passion and commitment to our community. We will keep marching.

We were honored to have strong speakers and talented musicians vocalizing the mission of the march, 'We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families - recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.” Thank you for sharing your voice.

The Women's March was not a protest. Millions of people across the globe marched for equity, for justice, for the rights of all women and girls. The Women's March was just one step for equity. It is not just a moment in time; it is a movement.
