Letter: Who do elected officials represent?

When a public servant is elected, who do they represent?
It seems our District 1 Congressman Rod Blum believes he only represents the people who voted for him, not all residents in his district.
His refusal to meet with constituents, if Blum perceives that their political viewpoints don't agree with his, is a move that is counter to American democracy. It appears if you are not a registered Republican, Rep. Blum isn't interested in hearing your concerns.
Perhaps the anger directed toward him at last summer's town hall meetings was a direct response to the Congressman's attitude of selective representation.
