The 2017 Linn-Mar bond vote is all about space, it is about supporting our students, teachers and staff by giving them the much needed space to learn, teach and work. I could share statistics with you, like how our student population is projected to hit 8,000 by 2021, all from new residents. We've all seen the constant construction. But statistics and abstract ideas on a graph aren't why we need you to vote yes.
We need you to vote yes because our students are in over crowded buildings in classes that grow in size each school year. We need you to vote yes because support staff are using closets as offices, teachers are using a boiler room as a copy room/workroom/breakroom, and students are learning in rooms that were never intended to be classrooms.
There is a community meeting and tour of Excelsior Middle School on Aug. 30, so you can see first hand why this is so important. Our students, our teachers and our staff deserve better than this. We can provide them with the tools they need to ensure our children get the quality education they deserve when you vote yes on Sept. 12, or sooner via absentee ballot. For more information, visit the Vote Yes for LM Students Facebook page.
