Letter: Vote to protect our water quality

We read with great interest Todd Dorman's column in The Gazette ('Linn County floats a water quality plan,” Aug. 7) about Linn County's Water and Land Legacy bond vote for the Nov. 8 general election ballot.
We totally agree with Dorman's assessment that Linn County cannot wait for the politicians in Des Moines to decide our future for clean water and wildlife habitat protection. Linn County and the Linn County Conservation Board are champions for taking this step to make water quality and land protection the major focus of the bond measure.
We are confident and trust that the Linn County Conservation Board will expend bond funds for the bond measure's intended purposes. The need is now for all Linn County voters to be bold and endorse and vote for this bond measure that will protect clean drinking water sources, improve the water quality of our rivers and streams, preserve natural areas for wildlife habitat and improve county parks and provide trails to promote fitness and wellness.
Please join us in voting for water quality and land protection, parks and trails on Nov. 8. It's for our children, our grandchildren and for future generations.
